A very few people visit the remarkable Eligias gorge that runs parallel to the Samaria Gorge. It is more difficult to pass and has an undisturbed nature. You can enter the Eligas gorge through the path along the south coast (Agia Roumeli-Loutro) and walk halfway up (ca 9 km).
